SURAgrid Accounting
ACS is developing a system that will allow the SURA community members to analyze accounting records from multiple institutions/systems. The system is being tested. Before you
upload you data, please send Jaro (
jklc@gsu.edu) a sample xml file to make sure your data will be presented correctly. The solution is based on the following documents:
- ur.xsd: XML Schema for Usage Records
Technical Overview
- Data Collection
SURA members upload their accounting data in the format described in the attached documents via the upload page. (Additional channels will be introduced shortly to simplify automation of the process) The accounting records are loaded in a database and the XML files are archived.
- Dimensional Analysis
The data is presented through JPivot. Jpivot is an HTML based pivot table used for "slicing and dicing", summarizing, and visualizing the data. The OLAP server behind the pivot table is Mondrian. More about Mondrian.
Current Problems
The current accounting record specification does not require CPU time to be reported. It is difficult to compare institutions as there is no direct link in the records between the system and the institution. Also, showing usage by a user is difficult as the global user id has not been implemented yet.
Desired changes:
Mapping systems to institutions in the accounting record specification.
Mapping users to institutions in the accounting record specification.
Providing Total Time in addition to Wall Time.
